News

Players, Nations and Cities pages have some statistics in the main pages (right column). Also information of last commented and edited pages. Should be quite interesting.

Finally Nations pages are launched.

The system is built that users will be able to create contents themselves: general text, history events, links and a section to have some text in own language. That's because admins don't have time to write texts for each nations and of course we don't know too much about all the nations.

So if you think you could write texts for your country please contact us. You can drop a line in this news item comments. More info in FAQ.

The system doesn't support back-upping (too much work to code right now) and therefore you are expected to copy back-ups of the texts to Mopolauta. An example: Finnish. I try to write stuff to Finnish pages so you get a better idea of the concept. It's a bit wiki-style. People can discuss in the topic and improve the contents. But only the nation-admins can edit the page.

History events might contain information about the first WRs, meetings and other big happenings regarding the nation.

City comment watch is enabled for users' own cities. You can disable it or enable more cities using the Comment watch function in a certain city page. For example: Oulu

We have finished the Kuski of month page. Thanks to SveinR for helping again.

We have added the Cities page. Last time active and Created are missing in the single city view, will be fixed later. Also comment watches are not functioning yet.

It's possible to change your nickname now and it's limited to one change per three months. You don't lose your old nickname either but old links (/player/oldnick, search etc.) are pointing to the new one.

Next I'll reserve some old player nicknames so no new players won't be able to take them by accident (Champi0N, zeth, PeXi etc.)

Moreover if your current nickname is a typo (or including disallowed team tag) please contact me and we fix it so that you won't have that false one in your nickname history.

We have added an automatic news comments watch. You can enable it in Settings.

Some fixes:

• You can select table listing direction in Settings to vertical, the feature requested by Phillip
• Number of comments of each picture is displayed in the main gallery page of players, it's told in brackets in the same line with uploading date
• New players have Unknown 2006 as Started playing Elma in by default when registering, it was 1997 earlier
• Some minor ones

Access keys are worth trying in order to make surfing easier on Moposite.

Viper_KillerGuy coded the comment watch and we implemented it to the system. You can start watching comments in certain news, player gallery pictures or identities. When more places for comments are coded they will be added to this watch.

The comment watch is automatically enabled for your own Identity and Gallery pictures (you can disable them). The comment watch is managed through links under Functions in the right column in certain pages.

Receiving a comment makes a drop-down-menu box visible in Panel in the left column (the place where you see your nickname in yellow).

I've uploaded the new IRC page. Lots of new text, logs, stats and pictures there.

With a great help of SveinR I've created the GAA pages, at last. You find them under Community. Special thanks to skint0r for offering web space for FEM05 videos (there's one from the GAA05 gala). As usually please report all errors and improvement suggestions.

Several changes in Players section

• You can change the default page which is opened when using /player/xxxx link (Settings), many people wanted to get directly to Identity page instead of the Summary page
• Number of pictures are displayed under Navigation in right column in the player page, so you don't have to go to Gallery to check whether the player has pictures or not
• New country: Lithuania
• Combined some cities (now HELSINKI, helsinki and Helsinki are all the same)
• Simple player search (left column), more advanced later
• Bug fixes regarding picture uploads (some old pictures are not displayed, please remove them and reupload) and sorting lists

Although we are not calling it kuski gallery anymore. Just generic Players.

All the old accounts with comments and default pictures are converted so go ahead to edit them or even add new ones.

There are many errors left. At least people have weird cities, ages, birth dates and stories. We will try to fix most of them later but you could try to fix yours. And request your friends to fix theirs as well.

We have also added Argentina as new country and removed Miranda. Anything else needed?

I have locked kuski gallery database so no new data (comments, users, edits) shouldn't be possible to insert. We are doing maintenance.

We have coded a possibility to minimize and maximize boxes in the left column. You can do that by clicking the +/- in the heading row. In addition you can set those static in Settings. Personally I find, for instance, Search good to have always minimized.

Ps. we have some problems with Reset to default option in Panel, so don't care about that.

We have just decided to create a new category to News: User contests (it's Low priority so it needs to be enabled in Settings). It's a child category of Contests and meant for people who want to write news to Moposite about their own contest (for example because you updated the page or added new levels). Alot of players read the Moposite news so if you wish, you are more than welcome to use this feature, we think it's likely to give contests more players and thus make contests more interesting.

What we require is that your contest is of some quality, and that it's either been running for a while or that you have previously done something similar and have been noticed at some level in the community. And obviously you also have to be able to write English. We also expect that those willing to use this feature will have something to write about more than once in a year.

As with everything, this privilege too comes with responsibility, so if you write off-topic or abuse your right to write, we wont hesitate on taking your privilege away. In extreme cases banning might be considered, but we wish that there will be no need for such measures as this is meant to be for everyones benefit.

If you are willing to try, please mail your nick and url of your contest to . And yes, the contest must be running in your own site.

Some instructions of using Base and Temporary filters has been written to FAQ.

The default filters are set to Medium, we assume that most people don't want to read all the not-so-important news. This means that by default the user (you) can't see the Low priority news. To see those news you should change your filters to All - Low in Base filters, on the Settings page. In addition you can override the Base filters by using the Temporary filters (look at the right column).

If you can't change the filters yourself (try again!) just use this link shortcut to see all the news on Moposite. The currently used temporary filters are displayed in a box above the news.

To filter a sub-set of the Base filters' set, uncheck the Disable Base filters. Otherwise don't touch it. Headlines in the left column shows only the Medium priority news, RSS feed includes all.

I hope this cleared a bit, don't hesitate to ask if not. Filters were quite a work to code so would be shame to not use them.

Many people found the Information and Knowledge's grouping confusing and in fact I agree. I'm not really sure why it was made like that initially but with a help of MagnusB the menu structure is now reorganized. Hopefully it's more logical this time.
