WHAT MADE ELMA SO ADDICTIVE? //by BarTek ======================================================================= INTRODUCTION Elastomania is a good game and we all know that. But why did we choose to play it so much? Elastomania is basicly just another game and to tell you the truth it isnt that "super duper fancy". But people keep playing it like you never seen it before and as the time goes by new kuskis enter the scene even though the game was relised several years ago. So what has made people playing this game over and over again? In my opinion it was a perfect mix of these three things that made the game famous and kept it going for so long: 1. WORLD RECORD TABLE 2. THE MOPOSITE 3. LEVEL EDITOR ======================================================================= 1. WORLD RECORD TABLE Ah yes. The first thing that made "höyling" possible, the wr tables. This must be the first thing in elma scene that started it all, by having a "Best Time List" the hoyling was born. Balaz who was smart enough to put one up is the mother of us all hoylas. When a kuski made a wr he was surley proud, but then some other dude came along and broke it by a few hundreds, this didnt make him happy at all ok. So what did he do? Well to beat his time he had to come with a faster drive rout and so he did. And slowly the replays became fantasticly fast and sick. (When i speak about elastomania i also mean across, across came first and then elastomania appeard but it same thing in this article) As the time went by teams were formed. The idea of co-operating on wrs and replays were a benifit for all members making it easier to make wr on a level. But at this time few ppl where playing and many didnt know about the game. ======================================================================= 2. THE MOPOSITE If Balaz is the Elma God then PeXi must be Jesus. At that time many people had there own websites wich included the game but none was to grow as big as PeXi's, the moposite was born. The site was a perfect Elastomania channel that reached players everywere. It is mine opinon that two things that made moposite famous. 1. The link on www.elastomania.com 2. The replay section When i got the game i played it for a short time and then i got bored. I finnished all levels and found the url on the last internal level. So i went to balaz home page and found "Best Time List". I didnt really interest me much but then i found that little link to moposite and i made my way to the "replay section". I downloaded a few in school and watched them....WOW!1! I was stunned when i saw the drive routs in those replays and ofcours i tryed to do the things as they did and then i got hooked tnx to moposite and the replays yeah. And as an result of this you often tipped other people about the game and suthenly you was making ad for the game without probably knowing it. I know i have shown some moposite replays for people that has played it a little bit but not taking much interest in it and i have made a few adictive to it to...its like a never ending cikle and this makes the game known among others. Its always fun to see freinds watch replays and hear them shout: - What the fuck was that?! how did he do it omg?!1! Mega lol ok1 ======================================================================= 3. LEVEL EDITOR Without the possibilty of making your own levels elma would sure have died qiute fast. But the idea of you being able to make new levels to play on and beat records made it survive. The internals are very good levels but they are just a few. Theirfor Level Editor roxxor1!1 New levels created new challanges as the time went. ======================================================================= SUMMARY There is also other factors that play a big role in the adictivness but i dont have the energy to write about them (to much things ok) so i only wrote about those things that matterd to me and made me hooked for the game. And i think it was pretty much that same thing for most kuskis. But three things has made the game famous and alive for a quite long time now according to my opinion. ======================================================================= //BarTek The "Elma Artist"
