THE LEARNING FROM REPLAYS //by BarTek ======================================================================= INTRODUCTION I felt i had to write this beacuse i think it is one of the most strange fenomens in elma scene. It is kinda odd, i mean when you downloaded for the first time in your life the moposite replays and wached them you went crazy and thought it must have been un-belivable to copy that run. But after studying it close for a time and many tries you ended up doing the same thing, like you never belived that you could do it from the first place! Example: 1. "Headbanger-down-the-hole" 2. "Steppes-over-the-pole-jump" ======================================================================= MY FIRST TIME My first level i managed to copy a good run from was on Over And Under. It took me many tries and i cant remember for how long but i finally managed to jump over the 2 killers and make a fast run with the sucky time of 34,xx. My second level was Shelf Life. Since i got the game from Ramone he had ofcourse saved some replays in the directory. He had a replay on shelf life with the time of 46,xx with a slower style. I remeber me trying to jump up and hook my wheel on that thingie in the middle for three weeks before i made it. The third level must have been Steppes, oh i can still remeber my frustration over not being able to jump over that cunt ass fucking pole. It took me 2 mounths but i only tryed 10 - 20 times a day. And ofcours my interest in the game grew more and more after i proudly managed to do those few things i never expected to do. ======================================================================= INTERNALS ARE A KIND OF PLAYING SCHOOL The most basic stuff you need to know you learned from the internals. The mopo replays provided styles you never thought about before and you learned to master the bike more properly. 1. The "one-wheel-drag" on Hang and Down Hill 2. The "bounce" on Tunnel Terror and Lab Pro 3. The advantage of "super spinn" on Steppes 4. The "one-wheel-fast-turn-around" on Labyrinth and Hill Legend 5. The "cheat-jump" on Hi-Flyer 6. The learning of "how-to-control-a-bike-in-a-tight-space" on Headbanger (in most general) 7. and etc etc etc These things made us better and faster understand what the bike could do and it limits. Tnx to replays we didnt have to find out for our selfs, we simply learned from others. I remeber zyntifox (fuck him ok) having wr on Warm Up, Flat Track and Steppes a looong time ago. I remeber him puting out replays on the best time list to Steppes and Flat Track. I wondered why more ppl wouldnt put out their wr replays. Little did i know back then høhøhø. ======================================================================= SUMMARY It is strange how a person can become as good as a wr braker simply by watching and studying replays. This is truly a good learning in the game and it is in my opinion that the game will live on as long as there is replays that can make a dude wanna do the same...it is the beuity in those perfect mopo-replays that make ppl wanna try it out and slowly becoming good players them selfs. I belive that it is beacuse of those internal replays that players learned and became good among others so fast and theirfor internal replays equals school. ======================================================================= //BarTek The "Elma Artist"
