######################################################################################### Elastomania based article about Cheating. Article written by Ambulance. 2.september 2001. ######################################################################################### Cheating. We all have heard about it. And we will never live in a world without cheaters. As you all should know. I have cheated 2 wr's in Elma, and I think it's important to let everyone see how and why we do it. So we get both sides of stories. Sure, you all must have been reading articles about cheating, but it's highly uncommon to read one that's been written BY a "cheater". How we cheat: The easiest way of cheating is to use the s***t.exe wich can be found at: http://**censored_by_abula**/S***t.zip The other way is to use a program that allows you to use all the options avalable on the Elma nitro patch. Someone even design own specifyed programs with abilities suited for themselves. I myself have not tested or seen the two last cheating options. On external levels competitions where you must send in both levels and replays it's possible to unlock a level with the level unlocker (http://**censored_by_abula**/L***k.zip) and make small adjustments in the level so it's easier to get a better time. That's why most of the time only replays are asked for now. But there still is competitions requring levels also. Here is some reason why we cheat: * To get a fake feeling of glory * To get famous * To get a fake self-esteem * To ruin for others * To show how much we give the fuck (Sometimes, yes) * To make others belive different about us * And last but not least, for FUN. Many people cheat for fun, to achieve something thats regulary hard to do. There is actually ALOT of people in Elma community that cheats, unfortunately. But most of the time in an harmless way. Say for example I got 33:32 on pipe, and then would edit the time down to 33:30 and use the inpresice time-counting in a replay to get the time down a couple of hundreds. Also when somone sets a new best time, they often edit it down a couple of hundreds. Sad, but true. << Believe this or not, I don't - Abula >> So here is the question I have been asking myself for some time now: How far can a person stretch the cheating, before it is seen as "serious cheating"? My answer is that the regular editing times down a couple of hundreds, including wr-times and other times IS cheating. But, however, it's not a serious "crime", and it shouldn't matter at all in my opinion. This kind is very harmless. People who uses the program to tune in better moves etc for the bike, is cheating serious. To put it that way. The way I cheated was that I actually paid 20 NOK for a 34.11 rec on pipe, and edited my state and sent in the rec in my name. And the other time I got a rec on 54.20 on Trick Abound, edited state, sent in rec in my name. If you see it this was, it is "serious cheating", but the things that made it different from serious cheating to harmless cheating was that I KNEW that these times would only stand there for one table. Since on pipe I knew Totalnew already had a better time on pipe as I KNEW YeeS had a better time on Tricks Abound. Besides from that, I have never cheated. And therefor don't look at myself as a "serious cheater". Others may see this oposite, but this is MY article, my opinion! To discuss me, go to: http://pub65.ezboard.com/fmopolautafrm1.showMessage?topicID=142.topic Now over to my summary/conclution of this subject: Cheating is mostly harmless, but at extreme situations, it sucks! People in Elma is in a very small community, and therefor makes a little thing big. To bad. I don't think cheating in Elma will ever meet a critical point of destruction before an auto-pilot cheat is public available. Something that never will be created. Don't take the game to serious, and don't take it for granted. This will be my famous last words in this article about CHEATING IN ELMA. #########################################################################################
